Rebuilding of the SWAY wind turbine

Date: spring 2012

During the spring of 2012, Karsten Moholt was repairing a prototype of the SWAY wind turbine. The wind turbine is a 1:6.5 scaled model of an offshore wind turbine that will be used for production of power. The turbine was located in Hjeltefjorden, and had a breakdown during the storm “Berit” in November 2011.
The wind turbine was transported to Karsten Moholts workshop for rebuilding and improvements. The turbine was dismantled and the structures were renovated. New PLC units were built, the generator was repaired and a new testing equipment installed. There were made new solutions for ballast and slip rings. The wind turbine was relaunched in May.
